Does the UK's airport capacity meet the needs of the business traveller?
It is essential that the UK’s position as a place to do business is supported by its aviation strategy. Companies in the UK need to be connected to established and emerging economies with sufficient flights to meet business demand.
The GTMC supports additional airport capacity, in the regions and in the South East, to ensure that the UK maintains its place as a leading country to do business and as the gateway to Europe.
Business travellers are agnostic about how this is achieved but would support the expansion of capacity through additional runways, mixed mode usage and a shift from domestic short-haul to high speed rail.
The GTMC reflects these business traveller priorities and will make the case whenever these options are debated.
Rival airports in Europe are capable of offering a more attractive business travel experience and the UK needs to act to maintain its position.
