GUILD OF BUSINESS TRAVEL AGENTS
Hard Work Pays Off for GBTA Management Training Graduates
Graduates of the GBTA's Management Certificate in Business Travel (MCBT), the highest level in the GBTA-devised qualification for business travel agent, were presented with their awards at a special lunch in London.
This year 19 graduates passed all three modules of the gruelling18 months syllabus which includes staff management, marketing, financial control, office systems, technology, law and office administration. Awarded jointly by the GBTA and City & Guilds, the management level certificate is designed for people who manage a branch or staff within an agency.
The GBTA is now inviting applications for the new Management Certificate in Business Travel which begins with induction sessions in early December 2004. The cost is £1,475 + VAT.
The management level certificate is open to anyone in the industry, not only Guild members, and is co-sponsored by Galileo and Flybe.
John Williams, general manager of the GBTA commented: "As business travel management companies are increasingly charging fees for their services, this puts them in the same position as other professions such as accountants. It is therefore even more important for business travel agency staff to have a recognised business travel qualification. The Guild's Certificate in Business Travel is the only such qualification in the industry."
GBTA chairman Richard Lovell added: “Our business is no longer about tapping keys to make reservations. In order to understand our clients needs and provide cost-effective, managed travel, the demand for people and brain-power is at a premium. The GBTA's training programmes are producing some of the most qualified people in the industry”.
