The Certificate In Business Travel

This is a qualification administered mainly by the Guild and awarded by City & Guilds. Since its inception in 1991 many candidates have successfully qualified at one of the four levels of the qualification which are:

• The Introductory Certificate in Business Travel which is aimed primarily at school leavers and is taught at a number colleges around the country. Further information may be obtained from the City & Guilds Institute on 020 7294 2468.

• The Consultant Certificate in Business Travel which is targeted at those who have worked in business travel for a period and are now seeking advancement. Like the Introductory Level it is offered at some colleges where it attracts government funding as it is on the National Qualifications Framework. The majority of candidates at this level, however, are from the within the industry and arrange their training through the Guild.

• The Advanced Certificate in Business Travel (formerly the Supervisory Certificate in Business Travel) prepares candidates for a leadership role, training them to deal with colleagues as well as clients.

• The Management Certificate in Business Travel is the highest and most prestigious level of the qualification covering virtually all of the aspects of management in the industry.

Each level stands alone and does not act as an entrance requirement for the other levels.
